Chief Brandon Perkins, MBA

Founder & Executive Director

brandon@americanarmor.org

Our founder, a police officer for over 20 years, is passionate about law enforcement and keeping police officers safe through training, sound policy, and ensuring that they are provided with effective equipment. Perkins has served as a patrol officer, training officer, supervisor, and in management roles and currently serves as the Chief of Police in a Metro Atlanta police department. He has held that role since 2007 and has been honored to have been asked to serve as his City’s Interim City Manager twice during that time.

Perkins holds an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Administration and an MBA with a cognate in Human Resources from Liberty University.

The idea of the American Armor Foundation came to be after he became aware of a RAND Study estimate that approximately 200,000 American law enforcement officers are serving their communities without the protection of a ballistic vest due, in large part, to budgetary constraints. “As a chief of police, I cannot imagine asking one of my officers to go out into the field without providing them with a vest and I wanted to do all that I could to make sure no other chief has to do that. America’s police officers are a valuable resource to their communities and deserve better.”

The International Association of Chiefs of Police selected Perkins as one of its inaugural “40 Under 40” Award recipients in 2016, in part, for his work in founding the American Armor Foundation.

“The American Armor Foundation has a special meaning to me.  I have many close friends and family members in law enforcement and I cannot imagine them doing their job without a vest.  Law enforcement officers put their life on the line every day and some do it without the protection they need.  My hope is that The American Armor Foundation can make their lives a little safer.”
